Texas Statewide Homebuyer Education Program Announces Training Workshops

To promote the uniform quality of homebuyer education provided throughout the state, TDHCA and the Texas Statewide Homebuyer Education Program (TSHEP) are pleased to offer two Homebuyer Education Provider certification workshops. Additionally, we will have two new continuing education workshops for previously certified TSHEP providers.

The Homebuyer Education Provider certification training workshops are available to teach nonprofit organizations throughout the State of Texas including Texas Agricultural Extension agents, units of local government, faith-based organizations, Community Development Corporations (CDC)s, Community Development Housing Organizations (CDHO)s, Community Based Organizations (CBO)s, and other organizations with a proven interest in community building the principles and applications of comprehensive pre- and post purchase homebuyer education. Participants who successfully complete the five-day homebuyer education provider training will be certified as TSHEP Homebuyer Education Providers.

TDHCA has contracted with the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (NRC) to conduct the workshops during the summer of 2004. The training dates and locations are as follows: June 28th - July 2nd in San Antonio, July 19th - 23rd in Austin, and August 23rd – 25th and 26th – 27th in Austin. The two new continuing education workshops for previously certified TSHEP Homebuyer Education Providers will be held August 23rd – 25th, and August 26th - 27th in Austin. The workshop titles are: Financial Fitness: Teaching Financial Management Skills and Beginner to Intermediate Foreclosure Prevention.
