TDHCA Executive Director and Board Vice Chair Elected to NCSHA/NCSHB Boards
TDHCA Executive Director Edwina Carrington in October was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA), a national nonprofit organization that coordinates federal advocacy efforts for affordable housing on behalf of its member housing agencies.
In addition, C. Kent Conine, Vice Chair of the TDHCA Board, was elected to the position of First Vice President of the National Conference of State Housing Boards (NCSHB). NCSHB is an organization created to provide educational and training opportunities for state housing finance agency board members to help them govern their agencies most effectively.
The votes were announced at NCSHA's fall conference in Chicago, October 18. Ms. Carrington will serve a two-year term and Mr. Conine a one-year term to their respective boards. This election marks the first time Ms. Carrington will serve on the full NCSHA Board as a member and the first time a TDHCA Executive Director has served the board. Mr. Conine served as 2003-2004 Second Vice President for NCSHB.
NCSHA represents its members in the nation's capitol before Congress, the administration, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Treasury Department, and with other federal agencies and advocates within the arena of affordable housing.
A 14-member board of directors, comprised of housing finance agency board members from across the country, directs NCSHB. The organization's primary focus is to plan effective and successful educational and training workshop agendas.
