TDHCA Sets Hearings on 2005 Tax Credit Applications

The Department will hold a series of 13 public hearings this month to accept public comment on Department applications received for the 2005 Housing Tax Credit (HTC) Program allocation. The hearings will provide citizens an opportunity to comment on 165 applications received by TDHCA for the 2005 allocation.

TDHCA has scheduled hearings for Waco, Austin, San Antonio, Lufkin, Longview, Lubbock, Fort Worth, Wichita Falls, Harlingen, Corpus Christi, San Angelo, Houston, and El Paso.

Texas' approximately $40 million allocation in tax credits represents the state's primary means of directing private capital toward the creation or rehabilitation of affordable multifamily rental housing. Developers use the credits to offset their federal tax liability in return for the development of rental properties that lease at below-market rents. Please visit the Housing Tax Credit Program page for further information about the program and the 2005 allocation cycle.
