ARCIT Honors TDHCA with First Ever "Rural Partner" Award
The Association of Rural Communities in Texas (ARCIT - http://www.arcit.org), an organization representing rural local governments and development organizations, recently awarded TDHCA its first "Rural Partner" Award. The organization selected TDHCA for the Department's efforts to address affordable housing issues in and work closely with rural communities during the 78th Texas Legislative regular session.
According to ARCIT, the organization selected TDHCA for this award based on the following factors: the Department's skill in building a consensus, its proactive approach in addressing rural housing issues, a knowledgeable and cooperative staff, a responsive Governing Board, and a strong executive director receptive to input from other stakeholders.
ARCIT is a nonprofit organization representing cities with a population of 50,000 or less, counties with a population of 200,000 or less, Economic Development Corporations formed and controlled by a qualified city or county, or a district or other entity formed under state law to provide water or sewer utility services in a qualified city or county. The organization plans to make the "Rural Partner" Award an annual event during interim years when the Legislature is not in session.
